With Brian Schmetzer facing Sigi Schmid for the first time since LA blew out the A-League Sounders 5-1 in the 2002 US Open Cup the Saturday night match on ESPN will bump the LA Galaxy versus Seattle Sounders rivalry up just another notch. LA is already the measuring stick to which all teams in the league are appraised, but their 2017 is bad. They are awful at home. They get beaten late in games.
This should make for good television, even if some of the Gold Cup winning Sounders do not see the field.
