The Seattle Sounders won Sports Story of the Year at the 82nd annual MTRWestern Sports Star of the Year ceremony on Wednesday at the Paramount Theatre in downtown Seattle.
The Sounders won their first MLS Cup in December in the most impressive fashion, going from ninth place in the Western Conference as late as September en route to a playoff berth on Decision Day before ultimately defeating Toronto FC in penalty kicks in the final.
"It is an incredible honor to be selected as Sports Story of the Year, especially given the accomplishments of our fellow Seattle sports teams over the past season,” said Sounders owner Adrian Hanauer.
