Seattle Sounders to play at Real Salt Lake in U.S. Open Cup Round of 16

The Seattle Sounders’ road to a potential fifth U.S. Open Cup title will go through Salt Lake City.

U.S. Soccer announced Thursday that the Sounders will take on Real Salt Lake in the Round of 16 of the historic tournament on June 28 at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah.

The Sounders beat the Kitsap Pumas of the Premier Development League (PDL) 2-0 on Wednesday night at Starfire Sports in Tukwila to advance out of the fourth round.

This will mark the second time in the Sounders’ MLS history that they’ll meet RSL in the USOC after the two teams met in a play-in game in 2009.
