Seattle Sounders midfielder Jordy Delem and Martinique picked up their first points of the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup on Wednesday night, handing Cuba a 3-0 loss.
Martinique dramatically increased its chances of qualifying for the knockout round, although it will require a result against Mexico in the final group-stage match, as well as some help from Cuba in their final fixture with Canada.
Delem started and played 90 minutes at the heart of a back three, shepherding the defense and keeping Cuba off the scoresheet.
In a relatively even affair, Martinique broke the deadlock on the brink of halftime, with Joris Marveaux heading home a cross from Kévin Fortuné in the 44th minute.
