The Seattle Sounders’ matchup against the Portland Timbers two weeks ago was always important. But despite its lofty place on the calendar, it was never a must-win game. Seattle had too many games left and was too close to the postseason picture for the result to be quite that apocalyptic, one way or another.
But those must-win days are approaching. And if they’ve already arrived, Saturday night is our first indication.
It’s difficult to ascribe too much importance to the Sounders’ visit to the San Jose Earthquakes (7:30 p.m. PT; JoeTV/Univision-Seattle/KIRO 97.3 FM/El Rey 1360AM).
