One of the traditions that has endured from the USL version of the Seattle Sounders to the MLS version is a postgame song that follows road wins. You’ve probably heard it before — it’s sung to the tune of Jingle Bells and features the line “Sounders win away.” In recent years it was led by Zach Scott, the last remaining player from those days.
With Scott no longer on the team, that particular tradition appeared to be in danger. But with Brian Schmetzer still the head coach — he also led the USL squad — the song made its triumphant return following Thursday’s 2-0 win on the road against the Houston Dynamo.
