SEATTLE, WASH. – Sounders FC midfielder Nicolás Lodeiro has been called in to the Uruguayan National Team for a friendly against Mexico on Friday, September 7 at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. Lodeiro joins Uruguay as a late addition following an injury to Giorgian De Arrascaeta and is eligible to play in Friday’s match.
Lodeiro, 29, has 57 caps and four goals in his international career, including seven appearances across the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups. He most recently was part of La Celeste’s preliminary squad for this summer’s 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, but failed to make the final 23-man roster.
