TACOMA, WASH. – Tacoma Defiance (4-13-5, 17 points) on Friday defeated Orange County SC (6-8-9, 27 points) by a 2-1 margin for its second win in its last three games. Shandon Hopeau and Marlon Vargas each scored for Tacoma, which improved to 4-5-2 at Cheney Stadium this season.
Hopeau’s goal evened the match at 1-1 just before halftime. He took a pass from Josh Atencio near the top of the area and slotted it past the Orange County goalkeeper with his right foot for his third marker of the season. Hopeau now ranks second on the team in goals with three, trailing only Justin Dhillon’s seven.
