Major League Soccer revealed on Tuesday morning the details of the 2016 expansion draft, which will take place on Dec. 13 ahead of the inaugural seasons of both Atlanta United and Minnesota United FC.
The draft with consist of five rounds. Each existing club can protect 11 players — excluding Homegrown Players and active Generation adidas guys — and can lose a maximum of one. Once a player is selected from a team’s unprotected list, that club will be removed from the expansion draft process.
Last time around, in 2014, the Sounders lost defender Jalil Anibaba to Orlando City with the fifth overall pick.
