Jurgen Klinsmann on Clint Dempsey's USMNT absence: "It's a bummer"

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A must-win match, in the Caribbean, without his ace attacker, might be a cause for alarm for other managers. Jurgen Klinsmann described it as "a bummer.''

Clint Dempsey’s absence for evaluation of an irregular heartbeat didn't just place his immediate future with the Seattle Sounders in jeopardy. It also ruled him out of the U.S. national team's World Cup Qualifiers against St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Trinidad and Tobago on Friday and Tuesday.

“Every time one of your leader players is missing, it’s a bummer,” Klinsmann said prior to Tuesday’s training session.
