The Washington Post’s Steven Goff reported on Saturday that Jurgen Klinsmann was making some changes to the USMNT lineup for Tuesday’s friendly against New Zealand, including the release of Jordan Morris to return to the Seattle Sounders.
Morris played 30 minutes in Friday’s historic friendly in Cuba, but it was expected that he’d be released from the second friendly match in order to be back for the Sounders’ crucial match against the Houston Dynamo on Wednesday. Sounders GM Garth Lagerwey said on Thursday that he was hoping for a Morris return, but it wasn’t certain at that point.
