How the Sounders weathered the storm, and other observations from Seattle’s series win over FC Dallas

FRISCO, Texas — The Sounders were disoriented, the game swirling around them in streaks of red.

From the time Dallas scored the opening goal of the second leg of Sunday night’s Western Conference semifinal until the halftime whistle, the 3-0 lead Seattle carried over from Leg 1 felt abruptly vulnerable.

“Going into halftime just down 1-0 was the best-case scenario for us at the time,” Sounder Brad Evans admitted afterward.

“They came out and pressed. We know the situation. You can prepare yourself mentally as much as you want. But when you come into a place and know you’re 3-0 ahead, you know it’s going to be a challenge, and they through their best at us.
