Hope Solo's reaction to suspension has long term impact for Seattle Reign

Suspended US goalkeeper Hope Solo released a short statement today, revealing that she expects not to play again for the Seattle Reign this season. “After careful consideration,” the statement read, “I have decided to end my season with the Seattle Reign, an organization I love playing for. Mentally, I am not there yet.”

The statement comes on the heels of the release this morning of a teaser video for an upcoming USWNT documentary that includes Solo’s reaction in the immediate aftermath of the suspension:

Given her suspension from the US, likely end of her status as an allocated player, and reports that she and husband Jerramy Stevens are moving from Seattle to North Carolina, it’s entirely likely that we’ve seen the end of Solo’s goalkeeping career.
