Herculez Gomez did not have many memorable moments on the field during his season with the Seattle Sounders. He did, however, ingratiate himself to Sounders fans by being accessible and fun.
It seems entirely plausible that Gomez won’t be back next season, but he left us with indelible memory from Tuesday’s MLS Cup rally. After rally announcer Kent Carlson had seemingly joked about someone crowdsurfing, Gomez couldn’t help but take the plunge.
This was probably the most surreal moment during an event that was every bit as fun and joyous as you’d imagine it to be.
