Leading a month where the Seattle Sounders defense gave up only three goals (one of those from the spot) Chad Marshall’s September was strong. He also scored a goal as the club went 3-0-1 +4 surging into the playoff picture again. That earned him the September Player of the Month.
This is a popular vote among the fans of the league, after MLSSoccer.com editorial nominates five players. Marshall barely edged New York City FC’s David Villa by 0.72%.
Chad is the first defender to win the award since August of 2009 when Chad Marshall won selection with the Columbus Crew.
