Seattle Sounders Head Coach Brian Schmetzer confirmed midfielder Handwalla Bwana has suffered a midfoot sprain.
Bwana exited with an injury in the 33rd minute in the Sounders’ 1-0 loss to Real Salt Lake last weekend, the latest of several unfortunate injuries Seattle has faced already in 2018. The 18-year-old rookie out of the University of Washington has fared well as a professional so far, starting five times in eight appearances and scoring his first MLS goal against Toronto FC earlier this month.
“He’s going to be in a boot,” Schmetzer told KJR radio host Dave “Softy” Mahler on Tuesday evening.
