Alec Diaz joins Puerto Rico National Team for World Cup Qualifying

After a season as one of the USL Championship’s top teen attackers, Tacoma Defiance forward Alec Diaz departed Sounders training camp to join the Puerto Rico Men’s National Team for the second time this offseason. The now 19-year old scored 6 goals and assisted twice in 855 minutes of play last season.

This year he’s a candidate to break into a Sounders attack that will need at least one more forward if they play most of their matches with two starting at that position.

Puerto Rico is now coached by former United States Men’s National Team coach Dave Sarachan.
