USFL returning for 2022 season

The USFL, an American Football League which competed for three seasons in the 1980s, will be returning to the field for the 2022 spring season.

The league is the latest in a line of upstart spring football competitions to hold games in the last few years. The AAF lasted for one season in 2019, and the XFL lasted for one season in 2020. Both leagues ultimately filed for bankruptcy, although the XFL, now owned by The Rock, is hoping to return to competition in the near future.

The USFL will feature at least eight teams, whose home cities and mascots have yet to be determined.
