The Seattle Seahawks were going to have a difficult time in Week 2 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, no matter what happened with former Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf. Rookie safety Nick Emmanwori was out, but much worse was Pro Bowl cornerback Devon Witherspoon missing the game.
Head coach Mike Macdonald knew he couldn't disguise his alignments as well without Witherspoon, and that meant more straight-up coverage on Metcalf. Not that Metcalf is the best receiver ever, but he is a good one, and he obviously wanted to play well in his first game against his former team.
He didn't start that way.
