Seahawks fill empty spot on roster with wide receiver you’ve never heard of

Monday the Seattle Seahawks released tight end Nick Guggemos, whose father Neal Guggemos had played defensive back for the Minnesota Vikings in the mid 1980s during Pete Carroll’s tenure as the defensive backs coach. Some fans of the Seahawks hoped that this release was done in order to open up a roster spot in order to create space to accommodate the return of either K.J. Wright or Richard Sherman.

However, those hopes were dashed Tuesday when the team announced that it had filled the open roster spot.

Travis Toivonen was listed at 6’4”, 212 pounds during his time at the University of North Dakota, so he is yet another name to be thrown into the competition amongst the big bodied receivers fighting for the final spots at receiver on the roster.
