Seahawks coach Pete Carroll on SS Kam Chancellor’s holdout: ‘Nothing’s changed’

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll seems burned out with talk of Kam Chancellor’s holdout.

During his Monday press conference in Renton, Carroll was asked twice about Chancellor and strayed from saying much.

“Things remain the same at this point,” Carroll said.

Later on, a reporter wondered if Chancellor’s continued absence, would, at some point, make it impossible for him to come back and play immediately.

“Nothing’s changed,” said Carroll.

OK, then.

Whether it’s mounting frustration or there really is nothing new to add, Chancellor’s contract dispute is dragging out longer than expected. The strong safety is facing almost $1 million in fines and could be docked an additional $250,000 of his signing bonus, though that’s at the discretion of the Seahawks, whose only real bargaining chip appears to be waiting for the regular season to start.
