Report: Seahawks re-sign Geno Smith to one-year deal

Anthony Gordon has some competition.

The undrafted free agent out of Washington State, who upon signing with the Seahawks was the lone quarterback on the roster behind Russell Wilson, will do battle with Geno Smith for Seattle’s backup quarterback spot. The veteran Smith, who served as Wilson’s backup in 2019, was re-signed on Thursday, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

As Fowler notes, it’s a one-year deal for Smith, likely for or near the league minimum. Last preseason, Smith beat out Paxton Lynch for the backup job, though he was temporarily released during roster cuts.
