Pete Carroll to KIRO AM: Doug Baldwin’s fine, Shaquill Griffin will start preseason opener

RENTON Doug Baldwin is fine, with just a strain in his foot. And Shaquill Griffin will start at right cornerback in his first NFL game, the Seahawks’ preseason opener on Sunday.

That’s the news from coach Pete Carroll’s appearance on Seattle’s KIRO-AM radio just before practice Friday morning.

Carroll described Baldwin’s injury as a strain to the upper part of his foot. He said the Seahawks will be cautious with Baldwin, who went down on the sideline after a catch, held his right ankle and foot, then left training-camp practice early on Thursday.

It is, after all, only Aug.
