With their season now over, the Seahawks are beginning to replenish what will be their 90-man roster heading into next year.
One way teams do that once the season ends is by signing players to what are termed “futures” contracts. What that means is that the player is signing an agreement now that will have him under contract with the team when the 2016 league year begins on March 9.
Seattle has signed 16 players to futures contracts since the end of the season, including everybody who was on their practice squad at the end of the year, as well as a few others (the practice squad essentially evaporates once the season ends so the team has to re-sign those players to futures deals to keep them.
