Former Seahawk Derrick Coleman pleads not guilty to vehicular assault

Former Seahawks fullback Derrick Coleman pleaded not guilty Thursday morning to charges stemming from a Bellevue hit-and-run crash in October.

Coleman is charged with vehicular assault and felony hit-and-run. He appeared in King County Superior Court for his arraignment.

The incident for which he is charged occurred Oct. 14 after leaving the Seahawks' Renton training facility. Police reports indicate that in Bellevue, Coleman crashed his Dodge Ram pickup truck into the vehicle of a 56-year-old man, which was run off the road and flipped over. Coleman's own car hit an embankment and landed on its side.

The Civic driver crawled out of the vehicle and suffered a concussion in addition to the collarbone fracture, court records say.
