Though some will surely be quick to point to the Falcons’ collapse in Super Bowl LI, and Kyle Shanahan’s subsequent departure to San Francisco, as the beginning of the end for Dan Quinn in Atlanta. But really, this past offseason can be pointed to as that moment, when the embattled head coach fired both coordinators following a disappointing season. It was Quinn’s final attempt to save his job, and it has failed.
The Falcons are 1-6, and Matt Ryan looks set to miss at least a game. After Week 6, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Atlanta owner Arthur Blank would not make a decision on Quinn’s future until their Week 9 bye.
