Seahawks Sign RB Christine Michael

The Seattle Seahawks have signed running back Christine Michael, head coach Pete Carroll announced at a press conference today.

Michael was drafted by the Seahawks in the second round in 2013, but saw limited on-field action behind Marshawn Lynch and Robert Turbin.

He was traded to the Cowboys after Seattle signed Fred Jackson this offseason, where he played in five games before being cut. He was then on the Redskins practice squad until he was released yesterday.

Seattle lost backup running Thomas Rawls for the season Sunday to a broken ankel, who was starting for the injured Lynch. The Seahawks then released backup DuJuan Harris yesterday, creating plenty of roster openings in the backfield.

Seattle did sign Bryce Brown Monday to replace Rawls on the active roster, and Fred Jackson is also on the roster, meaning Michael will probably serve as the third running back until Lynch returns.

It's unclear who will get the start for Seattle this week. Jackson has 24 carries for just 89 yards this season and fullback Derrick Coleman has just three carries. There is no timetable for Lynch's return.
