Seahawks News: Seahawks are "excited" about "incredibly explosive" Terrelle Pryor

In Seahawks news today, the Seattle Seahawks are elated to have former Oakland Raiders starting quarterback in the fold after trading for him on Monday night.

Per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider had nothing but good things about Pryor in a press release issued by the team: “Terrelle is an incredibly explosive athlete and we’re excited for him to come in and compete,” G.M. John Schneider said in a team-issued release," said Schneider.

According to Florio, "the release identifies Pryor as a quarterback, saying nothing about Pryor possibly filling other roles. Per a source with knowledge of the situation, he will indeed remain a quarterback."

If that is the case, Pryor will most likely compete with incumbent Tarvaris Jackson for the backup quarterback role. It is extremely unlikely that he would have a chance to supplant Russell Wilson in the starting role.

However, as Florio posits, "if the Seahawks are serious about the commitment to competition, Pryor also would have a chance to supplant Wilson, in theory. But it would take a lot to overcome one of the best young quarterbacks in the NFL."

Wilson's stature as a Super Bowl-winning quarterback and one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL makes it safe to say that Pryor most likely will not be the Seahawks' starting signal caller anytime soon.
