Seahawks News: Pete Carroll Explains Team's Mindset After Loss To Chargers

In this Seahawks news and rumors update, the Seattle Seahawks were handed a harsh dose of reality on Sunday as the San Diego Chargers' Philip Rivers-to-Antonio Gates connection torched the 'Hawks defense to the tune of a 30-21 upset in Southern California.

The Seahawks aren't quite used to losing over the past year or so, which explains the somber mood in the locker room on Monday.

''They're quiet. They're quiet and serious,'' Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said, via an Associated Press report. ''We don't take these easily. There are very high expectations that we live with here and everybody knows that. The main thing is everybody took to heart the changes and adjustments and the things that we can fix. They were ready to do that.''

The Chargers' propensity to get positive gains on first and second downs in order to set up third-and-manageable impressed Carroll, despite the adverse effect it had on his own team.

''They have a real good mentality about it. They've been committed to that style it seems to be since the midway point of last year and that's the way they like to play,'' Carroll stated. ''Philip does a great job of it. ... That allowed them to play to their strength and we weren't able to knock down enough situations.''
