Report: Seahawks expect Marshawn Lynch to be no-show at mandatory minicamp

In today's Seahawks news update, the Seattle Seahawks are preparing to be without star running back Marshawn Lynch when the team opens mandatory minicamp next week, per sources close to the franchise.

According to Rand Getlin of Yahoo! Sports, "Lynch, who skipped the team's visit to the White House in May, and reportedly hasn't appeared at any of the team's voluntary organized team activities (OTAs) thus far, is thought to be unhappy with his contract, though it's not clear if that is the only football-related reason the running back is considering skipping or reporting late to minicamp."

Lynch is currently entering the third year of a four-year contract, and is slated to make a base salary of $5 million in 2014 and $5.5 million in 2015.

While no one was surprised that Lynch missed OTAs this year (he has missed them before in the past), Lynch's potential absence would mark his first absence from an NFL mandatory minicamp since he was drafted by the Bills in 2007.

Widely regarded as one of the top ground threats in the NFL, Lynch ran for 1,257 yards and a career-high 14 touchdowns in 2013.
