Tacoma gets just two hits, but wins 1-0

Max Povse and three relievers combined on a six-hit shutout as the host Tacoma Rainiers defeated the Albuquerque Isotopes 1-0 on Thursday night in a Pacific Coast League game at Cheney Stadium.

The Rainiers had just two hits, but one of those was a homer from Kirk Nieuwenhuis in the second inning. That was all the offense Tacoma needed.

Povse allowed six hits in 51/3 innings. Mike Morin, Ryan Garton and Erik Goeddel completed the shutout without allowing ahit.

Goeddel picked up his second save of the season.

Povse improved to 1-2 and lowered his earned-run average to 6.
