Storylines to watch as Mariners start spring training

The wind, rain and snow (?) this weekend are surefire signs that baseball season is upon us.

OK, maybe our upcoming spate of winter weather hasn't exactly gotten us all in the mood for the boys of summer, but pitchers and catchers for all Major League teams -- including the Mariners -- reported to spring training this week, with the first full-team workouts scheduled for next week.

Seattle seems stuck in limbo following a 78-84 2017 season that saw the M's finish tied for third in the American League West. The teams that finished above them in the AL West: the World Series champion Houston Astros and the Los Angeles Angels, the proverbial thorn in the Mariners side who beat out Seattle for two-way Japanese star Shohei Ohtani this offseason.
