Slade Gorton received the Paul G. Allen Award at the 83rd Annual Sports Star of the Year ceremony Thursday night in Seattle. The award honors “an individual who has made a significant or compelling philanthropic contribution.”
Mariners Chairman and Managing Partner John Stanton presented Gorton with the award.
“Slade Gorton is one of my heroes,” Stanton said. “He is a Northwest icon, and he is a national treasure.
