Seattle Mariners agree to terms with former first-round pick Guerrieri on minor-league contract

Guerrieri, 28, was the 24th overall pick in 2011 out of Spring Valley (Columbia, S.C.) High School by the Tampa Bay Rays. Rated as high as No. 62 on Baseball America’s Top 100 prospects lists ahead of the 2013 season, and known for his prolific curveball, Guerrieri has posted a 5.50 ERA in 29 career relief appearances at the major-league level between the Toronto Blue Jays (2018) and the Texas Rangers (2019).

Guerrieri was initially with the Rangers to begin 2020 spring training, but was not in their player pool when the season resumed and became a free agent in October.
