Today is the day we’ve been waiting for all winter: pitchers and catchers have reported to Major League Spring Training in Peoria, Arizona. The sun was out with a smattering of clouds in the air, and a crisp 59 degree-weather swept throughout the complex.
It won’t be long until the practice fields in Peoria are buzzing with activity. Pitchers and catchers take the fields for workouts tomorrow. Position players will report to camp on Monday, with the first full squad workout to follow the next day. The Mariners open their 2020 Cactus League schedule on Saturday, Feb. 22 against the San Diego Padres at Peoria Sports Complex, with the Mariners manning the “road team” dugout.
