Mariners manager Scott Servais met with members of the local media Monday afternoon prior to his club’s series opener against the Texas Rangers at T-Mobile Park.
Seattle acquired 29-year-old veteran right-hander Matt Magill from Minnesota in exchange for cash considerations on Sunday. Magill has appeared in parts of four Major League seasons since 2013 and most recently had a 2–0 record and 4.45 ERA across 28 appearances with the Twins this season. Servais fielded many questions about Magill, who is active for tonight’s game. The skipper spoke about how the front office’s analytics group likes Magill a lot and that his mix of a mid-90’s fastball, slider and curveball all form a solid group of pitches.
