Sampson allows two hits in eight innings in Tacoma Rainiers’ victory

FRESNO, Calif. — Adrian Sampson allowed two hits over eight innings, leading the Tacoma Rainiers to a 9-5 victory over the Fresno Grizzlies on Thursday night in a Pacific Coast League game.

The Rainiers outhit the Grizzlies 16-4 but the game was close until the Rainiers scored once in the eighth inning and five times in the ninth.

Sampson allowed two runs on two hits and one walk. He struck out four.

Daniel Robertson’s grand slam in the ninth inning gave Tacoma a 9-2 lead.

Mike Baxter had four hits for the Rainiers, and Mike Zunino had three after coming into the game on a 3-for-27 slide.
