Before his 2020 season was cut short, Giles made just four appearances with the Toronto Blue Jays for a 9.82 ERA. But he was a dominant force in 2019, going 2-3 with a 1.87 ERA and 23 saves in 53 appearances. He struck out 83 batters and walked just 17 in 53 innings. Giles is known for his power arm.
The Mariners know Giles well, as he was a former AL West rival with the Astros from 2016-18. In three seasons with Houston, he posted a 3-10 record with 61 saves and a 3.57 ERA in 166 appearances.
