Randy Arozarena officially has the option to stay with the Seattle Mariners for a $23.15 million salary. He won't actually do it. This is a case of jotting it down for posterity's sake, ahead of what is more than likely to be the 31-year-old's departure from Seattle as a free agent.
As per Joel Sherman of the New York Post, Arozarena was one of eight players to receive the qualifying offer on Monday. He has until 1:00 p.m. PT on November 17 to accept it, though it's doubtful he'll need that long to decide. The $23.15 million value of the offer is potentially $100 million less than he can earn on the open market.
