Paxton to DL with strained tendon in finger

SEATTLE -- The Mariners' starting rotation has suffered another blow.

Left-hander James Paxton was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Friday due to a strained tendon in the middle finger of his pitching hand, an injury sustained during Thursday night's 5-3 loss to the Indians.

In a corresponding roster move, right-handed reliever Dominic Leone was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma. Left-hander Mike Montgomery and righty Justin Germano are possible options currently at Tacoma to replace Paxton in the rotation, but Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon said on Friday afternoon that the team had not yet made any decisions regarding a replacement.
