Mariners pitching prospect Danny Hultzen was shut down over the weekend because of fatigue in his throwing shoulder, according to a Seattle Times report.
According to Mariners beat writer Ryan Divish, it’s unlikely Hultzen will pitch again during the regular season after the 25-year-old left-hander went 0-1 with a 3.38 ERA in three starts for Double-A Jackson before a tired shoulder sidelined him in May. In a best-case scenario, Hultzen will return to pitch in the Arizona Fall League or instructional league.
