ANAHEIM -- Mariners right fielder Mitch Haniger wasted no time celebrating his first game as an impending American League All-Star, knocking a three-run homer in his first at-bat in Tuesday's contest against Angels standout right-hander Garrett Richards.
Haniger was named to his first AL All-Star team on Sunday evening along with teammates Edwin Diaz and Nelson Cruz. The Mariners were off on Monday as they traveled to Anaheim.
The 27-year-old hit the first pitch he saw from Richards -- an 89-mph slider -- into the short porch in left field at Angel Stadium, projected at 368 feet by Statcast™.
