SEATTLE, Wash. — Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced today that the Mariners signed right-handed pitcher Yoshihisa Hirano to a 1-year Major League contract.
To make room on the Major League, 40-man, roster, Seattle has designated left-handed pitcher Ricardo Sánchez for assignment. The Mariners now have 7 days to trade, release or outright the contract of Sánchez to the minors.
Seattle’s Major League, 40-man, roster remains full at 40 players.
“We’re glad to have Yoshi on board,” said Mariners General Manager Jerry Dipoto.
