Mariners Select RHP George Kirby from Double-A Arkansas

SEATTLE, Wash. — Seattle Mariners President of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced today the following roster moves:

  • George Kirby (#68), RHP, selected from Double-A Arkansas.
  • Riley O’Brien, RHP, optioned to Triple-A Tacoma (post-game May 7).
  • Ken Giles, RHP, transferred to 60-day Injured List (right middle finger sprain).

Seattle’s Major League, 40-man roster remains full at 40 players.

Kirby, 24, is rated as the u211611 overall prospect by Baseball America and the u21162 prospect in the Mariners organization. At u211611 overall, Kirby will become the highest-rated pitching prospect to make his Major League debut with the Mariners since Félix Hernández who debuted in 2005 as the u21162 overall prospect according to Baseball America.
