Welcome back, Mariners reactors. We are now well and truly into the second half of the season. No more floundering around aimlessly, no more sitting on the precipice. With the trade deadline around the corner, teams need to choose whether to go for the playoffs or waste another year treading water.
As of the writing of this article, the Mariners are staring down the barrel of mediocrity. Currently five games back on the Astros for the AL West and two games back on the Yankees for the first wild card spot, the Mariners hold a slim one-game lead over the Red Sox with the Rays just half a game back of them, and the Rangers just a game behind of them.
