Mariners’ offense explodes to overcome a shaky start from James Paxton in a 10-7 win over the Rangers

It was a forgettable second start of the spring for James Paxton. The big lefty struggled with the command of his pitches and the Rangers took advantage of it, scoring seven runs on seven hits in just 1 2/3 innings pitched. After giving up a run in the first inning, Paxton was tagged for six runs in the second inning, including allowing a solo homer to Robinson Chirinos and a three-run homer to Ryan Rua, which ended his outing.

“Location wasn’t very good,” he said. “I was just missing over the middle of the plate.
