The stellar season for Nelson Cruz in 2014 didn’t go unrecognized.
On Thursday, Cruz was named to the Louisville Slugger Silver Slugger team for the American League as an outfielder. The awards go to top hitters at each position for both leagues.
Cruz was one of the best hitters in baseball the American League this past season. He hit .302 with 22 doubles, a triple, 44 homers, 93 RBI with a .936 on-base plus slugging percentage. The 44 homers were second most in the American League, while the OPS was fourth highest. He had 49 multi-hit games with 27 go-ahead RBI and 14 game-winning RBI.
