Mariners head groundskeeper Bob Christofferson hangs up his rake, for now

There are many things Bob Christofferson will miss about groundskeeping. He’ll miss the people. The way he could “feel” the grass through the mower. The quiet of the ballpark first thing in the morning after a night game.

And when he looks up at the clock, sees it’s 7:10pm, he will miss being at T-Mobile Park.

“That’s a special time, when the umpires and the managers are out at home plate and we’re done. I always go in and look at the field on the TV in my office. I want to make sure that it looks as good on a given night that it could,” said Christofferson.
