Mariners Give Grant to Gig Harbor Organization that Helps Veterans and First Responders Coping with PTSD

The Seattle Mariners announced Tuesday a $5,000 grant to Permission To Start Dreaming, a Gig Harbor-based organization that provides healing services to military members, first responders and families coping with the effects of Post-Traumatic Stress.

The organization was founded in 2011 by Leslie Mayne in response to the tragic death of her son Kyle Farr, an Army veteran who died of an overdose one day after he was discharged after treatment for traumatic brain injury and PTSD.

Mayne wanted to channel her grief and find a way to honor her son by helping other veterans who struggle with the effects of trauma and injury.
