Seattle’s offense has been running hotter than a Pontiac Firebird the past couple days, scoring more runs over a two-game stretch than the team has in a decade. To complete the sweep, the Mariners will have to take down Detroit’s Jack Flaherty in their final game before the All-Star break. Theoretically, that should be an easier task than taming the Tigers’ pair of All-Star starters in Tarik Skubal and Casey Mize, but then there’s a lot of things about the Mariners that should work in theory.
Facing off against Flaherty will be Logan Gilbert, who hopes to bounce back after his worst outing of the season against the Yankees on Tuesday.
